Well, it's hockey night at the DCC - Two big games this weekend - Tonight the Kings take on the Blazers at the DCC and then they'll travel to the Ford Center in Oklahoma City on Saturday. Mississippi had a 3-2 shootout victory on October 24th at the Ford center.
Last week the Kings were a step behind the Blazers on Friday night and lossed 4-3. The difference in the game were special teams - Oklahoma City was 3 for 9 on the powerplay and Mississippi was 2 for 7.
Hopefully the boys can come out tonight, like they did on New Years Eve - a - 6-0 thumping of the Mudbugs.

A few quick things
The Mississippi RiverKings, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, are announcing the selection of forward Louis Dumont to the 2009 CHL All-Star Team. The selection of Dumont as one of the all-star team reserves marks the first time he’s been chosen for the all-star game.
The Mississippi RiverKings announced the selection of forward Louis Dumont to the 2009 CHL All-Star Team. The selection of Dumont as one of the all-star team reserves marks the first time he’s been chosen for the all-star game. Congrats to Lou - I still hate the All-Star format this year.
The bus ride home from Mississippi was a silent one for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Wednesday. For good reason. They suffered their worst loss of the season after a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Northeast Division foe Mississippi. It was their worst loss since a 6-0 loss in Tulsa on Feb. 19, 2002. The Kings had fun New Year's Eve.
Jeff Alcombrack of the RiverKings recently took questions from fans about the season and playing for coach Kevin Kaminski. You can find his comments on the Central Hockey League web site chat room. Way to go Jeff.
Amarillo Gorillas head coach Tom Coolen was given a break from his post behind the bench in Wednesday night's game against Odessa after being suspended for one game by the Central Hockey League. Coolen, who also was fined an undisclosed amount, was ejected late in the third period of Saturday's 7-3 loss at home against Odessa and made sure his displeasure was known by tossing water bottles and equipment onto the ice before heading to the locker room. Reminds me of a few years back when Muscutt had a fit.
Here's some sad news to start the New Year - Whitby Dunlops defenceman Don Sanderson died Friday morning after spending nearly three weeks in a coma as a result of hitting his head on the ice during a fight.Sanderson, 21, passed away at 1 a.m. at Hamilton General Hospital. Sanderson struck his unprotected head on the ice during an Ontario Hockey Association game against the Brantford Blast on Dec. 12. His helmet came off during a fight with Brantford's Corey Fulton in the third period and he was injured as both players fell. While briefly regaining consciousness after the incident, he had been in a coma and on life support up until his death. He had undergone brain surgery. There was no word Friday morning on funeral arrangements for Sanderson, a native of Port Perry, Ont., and a student at York University.Very Very Sad.
The Detroit Red Wings rallied from a two-goal deficit to shoot down the Chicago Blackhawks 6-4 Thursday in the National Hockey League's Winter Classic outdoor game. At venerable baseball ground Wrigley Field, transformed for the occasion into a hockey arena, the defending Stanley Cup champion Red Wings denied the host Blackhawks and stretched their lead over Chicago atop the NHL's Central Division to eight points.
Despite the disappointment for Blackhawks fans, the entertaining New Year's Day contest was no doubt just what the NHL had in mind when they scheduled the third outdoor game in league history, after last year's inaugural Winter Classic in Buffalo and the Heritage Classic in Edmonton in 2003.At Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916, 40,818 fans braved freezing temperatures and were rewarded with a fast, physical game. Actually it was a pretty good game, I'm glad I was in front of the TV and not outside.
Manny Fernandez made 30 saves to remain perfect at home and the Boston Bruins extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 4-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night. The Bruins keep on rolling.
Linemates Jason Pominville and Derek Roy scored two goals apiece to lead the visiting Buffalo Sabres over the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 in NHL action on Thursday night. The Maple Laughs are having big problems - Where's Burky.Alex Ovechkin had a goal and two assists and the Washington Capitals beat Tampa Bay 7-4 on Thursday night for their fifth straight victory and seventh in a row over the Lightning. He's the man.
An injury-riddled Montreal Canadiens team recalled four players from the American Hockey League on Thursday after learning that forward Alex Tanguay will miss a minimum six weeks with a shoulder injury. Boy, the Habs are injury prone this season.
The Detroit Red Wings began life as the Detroit Cougars. This was the original name for the Detroit franchise granted by the National Hockey League in 1926 (known as the Cougars because the majority of players were from Victoria Cougars). They played in the NHL under this name 1927-30. The name then changed to Detroit Falcons for the 1930-32 season before the name changed again, to Detroit Red Wings from the 1932-33 season. I did not Know that - You learn something new every day.
